Build Customer Goodwill With Promotional Products

Promotional products foster customer goodwill (positive attitudes and feelings)
toward a company and its salespeople. This study, completed by Baylor University
in 1992, involved a textbook publisher sending 4,000 educators either: (1) a pocket
calculator plus a letter, (2) a lower-priced highlighter pen plus a letter, or (3) a
letter only.

• Customers who received a promotional product expressed more good
will toward the company and its salespeople than those who did not
receive a promotional product.
• The attitudes of those who received the calculator were consistently more positive than for those who received the less expensive highlighter pen.
• Customers who received the pocket calculator or the highlighter pen rated the proficiency and ability of the sales representatives as 34% and 16%
(respectively) higher than those who received only the thank you letter.
• On questions relating to the customers’ personal feelings toward the company and its sales representatives, customers who received the calculator
scored 52% higher than the letter only group (see table above).

REAL WORLD SUCCESS STORY
OBJECTIVE:
To conserve water and help customers reduce their water bills.
STRATEGY & EXECUTION:
Water consumption during the summer had always been a great concern to one, New York county water
company because of the increased usage of water for lawns and gardens. The water company targeted its
53,000 residential customers with a mailing announcing a new conservation program and a bounce-back
card offering an information packet. Respondents were sent an information video tape, refrigerator
magnet and a slide chart to calculate the amount of water needed to keep a healthy lawn. It was used in
conjunction with a watering guide number, known as ET (Evapo-Transpiration), that was published daily
in the newspaper and based on rain and humidity levels.
RESULTS:
Anticipating an 8% return, the advertiser actually received a 15% return (7, 950 responses). Projections
indicated that approximately 5,000 gallons of water would be saved per participating household, thereby
passing on a savings of $75, each based on an average $200 water bill for summer months.

Bag Solution

Objective – Customer wanted a new bag. Bags are used at various campus events and for incoming freshmen. They did not want the non-woven polypropylene but a new canvas bag. After several presentations nothing had been resolved. I really thought the non woven would be of interest because of the other Eco friendly items they had purchased in the past. I did a spec sample with their logo.

Action – Customer loved the bag and ultimately placed an order for 9000 pieces . They felt it supported their green initiative as well as being stylish.

Result – Bag has been very popular. Two other groups on campus purchased similar bags from T&N Promotions Plus.

3T MRI Rollout

Objective – Hospital was purchasing new state of the art MRI equipment for the Hospital called a 3T MRI. they wanted to advertise to the local Doctors and employees about the equipment in a fun inventive way within a budget of $5 and under for the doctors and $2 and under for the employees

Action – One promotional item was chosen  to send out to the Doctors that would refer patients to the Hospital to use to highlight the new machine and 1 item was selected to give the employees as a gift to promote the new machinery. The item selected was a desk piece that was a magnet that had 3 people clips on top that looked like a person laying down on a MRI machine. Imprint said 3T MRI and the hospital name. The employee gift was a packet of 3 tea bags to promote the name of the machine the 3T MRI.

Result – The result was increased excitement and awareness within the hospital of the new machine. The awareness resulted increased bookings scheduled within that department for the months following the promotion. The more times the equipment was used the more times it could pay for itself. Client loved both solutions and re-ordered on the desk magnets for the doctors a two times from T&N Promotions Plus .

Hot Promotional Product – Text-Free Driver

Text-Free DriverThis morning as I’m driving into work I notice this dump truck in front of me swerving from the center lane and into the left one. Then back to the center. Then to the right. Then … the shoulder.

My first thought was, what if this poor dude’s had a heart attack and he needs help?!

So, with the strength of a 4-cylinder, 128-horsepower 2003 Corolla at my disposal, I hit the gas and caught up to him in, well, eventually … and once I got there, what did I find?

Not only was he not having a heart attack or in any physical distress, but he seemed to be having a good ol’ time texting (and hopefully not “sexting”) with God knows who. OK, this is a major driving infraction. A huge penalty. If I had a yellow flag in my car I woulda thrown it at him. Instead, I began texting my friends at how appalled I was (Ok, that’s a joke …).

Anyway, this got me to thinking about a specific promotional product that would’ve been perfect for Mr. Swerving Dump Truck Texter Guy and how it could’ve prevented some awkward and dangerous moments for people driving this morning .

The “Text-Free Driver” is a little thumb band that can be worn by people before they get into a car to remind them of the dangers of texting and driving.

this is an awesome product for this day and age, and one that I certainly give a “thumbs-up” to (no pun intended)!
